I ordered 2 of this primarily due to the glowing Amazon reviews. I also have 2 newly purchased BenQ EW2420's, which was convenient for a side by side comparison.
First off, what most of the reviewers are saying about this monitor is generally true. The stock stand is pretty awesome for any monitor. It raises, tilts, and rotates. Has pretty good construction quality, and the nicest thing is that it uses standard VESA mounts, unlike most stock stands. This means A. the monitor actually has VESA mounts (which is getting increasingly rare), and B. You could use these stands on any monitor with VESA mounts.
As far as the general picture quality of this monitor, it's really good... for a TN LED panel. I point that out because they were head to head with my new Ben Q's, which are VA panels. (my first experience with VA). Backlight uniformity was generally good on the Viewsonics, but just like all TN LCD's, they weren't quite up to snuff in black levels, which translates... Read more

I needed a new monitor for my MacBook Pro and was definitely not going to drop $1,000 for Apple's 27" display. What a rip.
I was surprised to discover how little monitor support there seems to be for Apple products. Tried out a Samsung PX2370 first and was very unhappy with the way text was rendered on the screen. Called Samsung--they said they didn't support Macs. Same with HP support.
The Viewsonic seemed to be the only monitor that mentioned Macs in their tech specs. The display is MUCH better at rendering text; basically the same as the Apple Display that I am replacing. I'm very happy with the quality.
One small thing that I noticed with this display; it seems to take a little bit longer to wake up from sleep than a Apple display. Not sure what's up with that, but...no big deal.
The speakers are lousy, but odds are you're not buying the monitor for the speakers.

I was worried at first, because after a week, a single pixel became stuck (as a constant red dot), but a careful flick at it with my finger caused it to flicker briefly, and then go out. It returned one more time, so I did the same thing. It hasn't returned since, and that was about a month ago. Everything else about the monitor is as advertised. Beautiful picture. I love using the pivot, which allows me to view large vertical pictures in portrait view.

I always start off with 5 stars and take off stars for certain "cons". In this case, I can not rightly give the HN274H 5 stars because I specifically bought this monitor for the 3D. The 27" was just a bonus. In order to reduce the ghosting, you have to set the Nvidia Control Program's 3D depth (or the depth setting) to the absolute minimum (0%) or with minimal ghosting, around 4%. This is unacceptable IMHO. If you have the depth setting at default or higher (say 20% or more) then the 3D really pops and is in your face, but there is significant image doubling - or ghosting. I used the 3D test application you launch from the control panel as the benchmark. This is probably the best 3D indicator or benchmark that I've seen. Not only does it show depth, but the Nvidia Eye really comes out of the monitor, almost hovering in front of you like a hologram. When seen on my 150" screen via 3D projector, this Eye stands out about 5 feet from the screen and is 8 to 9 feet wide. Very... Read more

Bought this for $700 = tax and shipping on Newegg a month ago, and it was worth every penny. Here's my review there Pros: I've been waiting patiently and checking the internet constantly for over a year for a 27" 3D Vision monitor to come out, ever since Asus teased us last year. Finally I now have the monitor of my dreams and it exceeds all of my expectations. The build quality on this monitor is fantastic. I came from the Alienware AW2310 and this monitor blows it away. The ghosting is the least I've seen, and the size is perfect. With the widescreen view on this baby the immersion level is unreal. I really like the dot pitch, there is no "tearing" of the pixels that I really disliked about the Alienware. This monitor is awesome, and I am stoked because products like this will be driving the 3D market and I love 3D.
Cons: The stand is only tilt adjustable, but you can connect a vesa stand which I did.

I've owned 4 different 3D Monitor sets over the years, and I'd have to rank this one at the top. With respect to 3D capabilities, the 3D image is clear, with very little ghosting and no flicker. The monitor also supports an almost painfully high brightness level, which is useful for compensating for the shaded 3D classes. In fact, we had to turn the brightness way down for non-3D viewing.
The 27-inch screen is admirably large. The colors, brightness, and contrast are excellent. It's a pleasing monitor to use even when you're not using the 3D function.
The only negatives I've found are: 1) Stand only allows for adjusting the Tilt. I had to put the whole monitor on a book in order to raise it a couple of inches. 2) Monitor is slow (2-4 seconds) to come on when waking from sleep mode. Not a major problem, but it is noticeable.
All in all, I still have to give this monitor 5 stars. The image quality and 3D capabilities are the best... Read more

I looked at about 10 other IPS monitors in this price range and finally decided on this one. I needed a monitor that I could calibrate for web design and photo-editing purposes. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros: Aesthetically pleasing. Stand is stable. Wide viewing angles. No backlight bleeds. Able to adjust colors. No glare or distracting anti-glare coating that other people reported on other brands. Built-in speakers (they're like laptop speakers, but this isn't important to me). No eye strain so far.
Cons: Can't adjust monitor height, so mine sits on books (but I knew this going in). It can't swivel but it does tilt (again, I knew this going in). No DVI cable. It does come with an HDMI cable.
A few notes:
This only happens with HDMI and not DVI. My 1yo PC has ATI Radeon HD4350 with latest drivers. The image did not fill the screen at 1920x1080, and the text was very fuzzy. I had to... Read more

The good: the pixels are perfect (no "stuck" pixels), and the image is excellent. Windows 7 recognized the built-in speakers without the need for software installation. The monitor packaging is excellent, and Amazon did a great job of providing an outer box to protect the monitor's original packaging. Also very good is the complete connection choice: HDMI, DVI, and VGA. The IPS (in-plane switching) technology does provide for a very wide viewing angle. Very nice built-in horizontal screen adjustment. I was just asked about color adjustment, so in case you don't see the comment, I'll say it here: The color adjustments are: sRGB, Bluish, Cool, Native, Warm, and User Color. The User Color gives you complete freedom to dial in whatever you want, in case one of the presets doesn't work for you.

First of all I usually don't read good reviews at all when choosing something because there's no problems noted to watch out for...so I just read the bad reviews for this one. Here's what others had to say: First complaint: The monitor doesn't raise up or heighten. Well very few monitors do...so it made me wonder if this monitor was somehow shorter than the others since people are putting books under the stand. It didn't make since to me since the monitor measures 16.1 high with the stand on the specs. So I set it up and I'm still baffled. Unless these people are really really tall or using desks that are only two feet high there's no need to place books under the stand. My other monitor (a Viewsonic VA1912WB) is the same height and its eye level without a monitor raiser or books to raise it up and I'm six feet tall. Second complaint: The controls are hard to get to.
