What is a LED monitor?
The term "LED monitor" generally refers to a monitor with a LCD panel and a LED backlight. A typical LCD monitor uses cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) as a light source to illuminate the LCD panel. 10,000,000:1 MEGA Dynamic Contrast Ratio
One of the great features of VA2212m-LED is its ability to dim the backlight completely for pure darkness during dark scenes such as a night shot in a movie. Contrast ratios refer to the ratio of the brightest color to the darkest color. With traditional CCFL backlit displays, contrast ratios are limited to the fluorescent lamp’s ability to dim in order to reproduce darkness. However, with the LED backlight, each LED has the ability to completely shut off allowing for a near infinite ratio of black to white contrast. The end result is true blacks that result in greater overall image quality.

This one blows the doors off of my main monitor (Asus VW266H) in terms of color, contrast, and brightness. I did not expect this to be so nice. It's very thin and light and thanks to LEDs it uses very little power (cool to the touch, front and back).I immediately mounted it to a 100 mm vesa monitor arm so I can't comment on the stand and I didn't plug in the audio cable so I have no idea if the speakers are any good. It comes with an analog VGA cable, but I just used a DVI cable I already had, and since the price of this unit is so affordable, one could easily buy a DVI cable online and still consider it a bargain. I prefer the 16:10 aspect ratio monitors (1920x1200), but at this price the 16:9 (1920x1080) is definitely acceptable, especially with such a nice picture (and I'm quite picky about display quality).
